"People gonna come here from every where, 'cause I'm almost there..." -Tiana, "The Princess and The Frog"

What a wonderful Friday morning! This weekend is going to be incredible. I get to see my big sis H tomorrow because she is coming home from Africa! In honor of her homecoming, I want to do a Disney post/ funny family wedding post.
Last night on AOL I was looking at the headlines and I came across the coolest thing... Disney wedding dresses in the styles of all the Disney Princess's. Who doesn't want to be a princess, right?

Gotta love this. However, I did notice that they left out Mulan. They could make an amazing Orient inspired dress! Maybe I will design one and post it later...
Anyway, I was on AOL this morning and they had a segment from Awkward Family Photo.. wedding version. These are hysterically funny. I definitely suggest getting the book and checking it out.

(I didn't notice this until later, but why is this woman topless??)

No doubt this weekend will be filled with good humor and good fun with the family.
Have a wonderful weekend.

"Rockin' with the rhythm of the rain" ~The Judds

The spring rain has finally come to Charleston. Girls are frolicking about the pooled streets decked their rain gear. One of the most crucial accessories a gal can have down here is a snappy statement umbrella and a killer pair of rainboots.

So how does one find the perfect ensemble for these drenched days? Well, here are some of my favorite options and combinations.

And, let us not forget the perfect rain trench. While not a popular choice among college students here, this trench defines that extra important combo function and flair.

And finally, these pictures are from the London Fog website and exemplify the romantic aspect of this kind of weather. I particularly like the Noah's Ark reference.

"And while I'm still gone on the quest for my song..." ~Sister Hazel

Last night was tons of fun! Sigma Chi Derby Days is going on all this week all over the country... so there has been lots of excitement and running around going on in Zeta! Tonight we are dancing at Club Light which should be pretty interesting haha... I hope my dancing skills increase between now and three this afternoon! Right now I'm jamming out to some Sister Hazel- haven't done that since Junior year at Hammond. Brings back tons of memories.

So... my Dad sent me a picture of Lake K yesterday. They have just started filling it back up with water. The whole process has been amazing to watch. They didn't dig out that pond, but they put a whole new piping system in the dam and rebuilt it. I looks really different now. I can't wait for it to be completely full. It will be interesting to really get to observe those big gators...

back to Chucktown. I have been working a lot on my art project for Thursday... It is a pencil interpretation of this picture that I took in October with EP.
I have been having some trouble getting the black area black enough with the pencil. Also, I want to interpret the spanish moss well, but I am not sure how to accurately do it with the pops of light. I have to continue to remind myself that when you're drawing something, you need to see things simply as shapes and tones. I tend to get too bunked down in my goal for the end result that I can't truly give focus to those little, specific things I need to work on.
Sound familiar of everyday life? It certainly does for me.
Happy Tuesday,

"Monday, which was never good anyway..." ~Lorrie Morgan

It's been one of those weird, gray days in Charleston where it's really sunny outside but there is absolutely no blue in the sky... pretty dreary. Fortunately the weather here has warmed up quite a bit. This weekend was absolutely beautiful...highs in the eighties and probably nineties on Saturday.

Here are a few things I have been wanting to magically appear into my spring wardrobe.

Hey Y'all!

I'm not really sure what will happen with this blog... but we shall see! The initial reason I've created it is to comment on my sister's posts about her trip to Africa (sooo exciting!) Anyway, I may have even bigger plans for you, my little blog... I want to really showcase Charleston and my life here. It is a wonderful city and I have met some equally wonderful people. Also, I'm obsessed with fashion so the blog may go in that direction... Only time will tell. All I know is that I am excited about all the potential this blog has. We will see what is yet to come!
